Letter: Matson leads with best interest of Davenport as focus

e now have two candidates for mayor of Davenport and my support goes to the current mayor, Mike Matson. I have known and worked with Mike for many years; first meeting him when I was a member of the Davenport Airport Commission.

Since that time, I have had regular contact with him and know him to be a true, humble servant leader. He is a retired senior military veteran and at the levels where he served, leadership was the most important of his responsibilities. In his position as mayor of Davenport he works across all of levels of government and organizations and has done that very effectively. Recently Mike was appointed to a national level policy advisory committee by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. In this position he will be able to influence local and national trade policy.

We are facing many challenges in Davenport on many fronts and Mike is the candidate who can capably work with and across a broad range of organizations and individuals and does this calmly and always with the best interest of Davenport and all its citizens as his continual focus. Mike is the only candidate who can deliver the leadership and results we need now and into the future. He is never the center of what he does – the citizens of Davenport are. My vote is for my friend and current mayor Mike Matson.
